WHO WE ARE

Mission for Advancing Theological education (MATE) was born in 1986 out of one man’s love for the Lord Jesus Christ and a desire to see Bible Schools and Seminaries better equipped with much needed books that could enrich the lives of men and women preparing for ministry. This vision of Delvin Alexis was shared with his pastor, Dr. John Moore, and his home church, Willowdale Baptist, who greatly encouraged and supported him.

Many schools and seminaries throughout the Caribbean, Asia & Africa were beneficiaries of books shipped to them in the sum of over 50,000 volumes, in the first 10 years. Some institutions were able to proceed toward acquiring their accreditation with the appropriate additions to their libraries.

As of date, we have shipped over 1.5 million volumes to 150 institutions in 64 countries. These books went to Bible schools, seminaries, public schools, universities and hospitals. Some of our larger shipments have been 3,200 volumes to Myanmar (Burma) and about 20,000 volumes to India.

For the next 14 years we saw an explosion in the ministry where an additional arm -  Friends Committed to Caring (FCC) - a Health Care Ministry which provides Health Education, Training and Clinical Services was introduced to complement the MATE ministry that was already in existence. Now we are taking mission teams annually to South America; Caribbean; Africa & Asia to provide services in the areas of ministry, health, education and sustainability.

We give God thanks and glory for all that He has done, and continues to do.

“Little is much when God is in it.”

MISSION STATEMENT

To promote theological education on an evangelical level as a religious missionary order within a standard of Christian faith that adheres to the following:

We believe in:

A:   The Holy Scripture as originally given by God, divinely inspired infallible, without error, and the only

supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

B:    One God eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

C:   Our Lord Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, His virgin birth, His sinless human life.  His divine miracles,

His bodily resurrection His ascension, His mediator work and His personal return in power and glory.

D:   The salvation of lost and sinful man through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ by faith apart from

works, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

E:   The Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the believer is enabled to live a holy life to witness and work for the

       Lord Jesus Christ.

F:   The unity in the Spirit of all true believers, the Church, the body of Christ.

G:  In Satan a personal enemy of the souls of men.

H:  The resurrection of both the saved and lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that

are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

WHAT WE DO

BOOKS:

We receive donations of books and Bibles from school libraries, hospitals, retired pastors, and individuals.  These books are collected; sorted according to approved list of authors, packed and prepared for shipment.

We provide over $750,000.00 worth of the best Reformation, Puritan, Covenanter, Presbyterian, Calvinistic, and Reformed Baptist books are ever written, most of which are out of print. These books are on a hard drive and are available to Christian Bible schools, colleges and seminaries.  Five centuries of the best books (selected and copied) on CD are available to us and, with the partnership of  Still Waters Revival Books, we can now obtain them for under $300 per set.

MEDICAL:

During short-term missions, we work in partnership with local governments and churches in South America, the Caribbean and Africa to provide CMEs (Continued Medical Education) to medical professionals, health education and clinical services to communities.  Since our underlying goal is to treat the "whole person”, each Clinic begins with a devotional that includes a gospel presentation.  Additional (one-on-one) counseling is always available.

All medical supplies are purchased by MATE/FCC in Canada, and through donations.
